Take out the WiFi antenna for better signal strength

Postby murak » Wed Feb 06, 2013 4:11 am

Many android sticks have weak wifi reception. Some users don´t notice it, but for those who do I´ve put together a small guide on how to take the antenna out of the case and hopefully get better wifi reception. There are other good guides out there, but I wanted to share how I did it. Keep in mind that you do this at your own risk and I cant guarantee that you will see any real world difference.

Alright, lets get to it!

In one end there is a small screw. Take it out.

Remove sd card, if any, and gently slide the cover of.

The circuit board can differ on the MX1. If you have another version, please share.

Bend the antenna cable about 90 degrees as so, careful not to break the solder.

Make a small passage in the plastic part for the cable to run through. I used a small knife.

If everything has gone your way the case should fit together with out any resistance at all.

On Google Play store there is a free program called Wifi analyzer wich can be used for checking wifi signal strength.

GL!

Check the Antenna Connector. it's really fragile.
