Am I the only one with wifi issues?

Postby mrdusty412 » Sat Jan 19, 2013 4:24 pm

I received my Neo G4 three days ago and seem to be having problems with the wifi.

I have excellent signal, but am normally only getting 1 mb download speeds. If I reboot my router, then the Neo G4 reconnects to it and gets 15mb down. But when I turn the Neo off and back on, then the download speed drops down to 1 mb. It will stay at 1 mb until I reboot the router again. It's not practical to be rebooting the router every single time I want to use my Neo G4.

I have tried this with literally 3 routers now. It's the same on all of them - reboot the router and speeds go up to 15mb/s. But if I reboot the Neo for any reason then the speeds drop down to 1mb/s. All of my other devices work perfectly fine with the routers. What could the problem be?

At this time I've tried my Neo G4 with 2 Wireless AP's and have had 0 issues (aside from buffering 1080P streams).

I consistently see 60-70Mbps. (10 ft from the access points through 1 wall).

Access points in use: Meraki Wireless N AP, Linksys WRT400N Dual band

I have the same issue on JB4.1... Guess I am having this problems because I have 802.11G wireless since no one with 802.11N seems to be affected... I solved the problem by going back to ICS4.0.4, which was on my G4 when I got it. I think this is a problem in JB itself. I have talked about this at https://www.facebook.com/minixtech but nothing happened. At this adress you can also find link to ICS4.0.4 if you would like to try it out.

It's not a 802.11G issue only. The three routers I have are actually Wireless N routers.

I will flash it back to ICS4.0.4 and see if that solves the problem. As soon as I received it, I immediately upgraded to JB4.1.1. So I never actually tested the connection on ICS.

Will post back after I downgrade and test it again.

I hope it will work as good for you as it does for me, I have no problems streaming 1080P from my server (built on Raspberry PI) running miniDLNA! No stutter at all!

Which server distribution are you running on the pi?I'm Interested and am hoping to build a server for my media with either a pi or one of these sticks.

I'm running the standard debian system, "raspbian" on it. From here: http://www.raspbian.org/ Furthermore I have 2 usb hdd docks like this: http://alturl.com/rw5ae (I'm not affiliated whith this guy in any way...). One thing is important to know, 1080p playback is only possible through dlna server. Using windoze smb (normal network) it stutters like crazy! (M$ crap!)
