[REQUEST] Please can anyone post the dmesg for the MX1?

Postby AndrewDB » Mon Nov 12, 2012 11:38 am

Hi,
I am interested in developing for the MX1, but I don't have the device yet.
Can anybody that has one, post the result of the dmesg command (in a terminal)?
Just type the following in a terminal (you may need root access or perhaps not, depends):
dmesg > dmesg.txt
and post the dmesg.txt (should be around 30Kbytes in size) file in this thread?
Thanks! :)

Thanks! From the dmesg it appears the MX1 is using the TPS65910 Power Controller and that is a good point. Also they seem to be using a Mediatek Wifi + Bluetooth module, but from your dmesg you seem to be using an Ethernet adapter so I didn't get the kernel messages for the Wifi module.
Do you think you could boot once with the Wifi activated and post the dmesg again?

AndrewDB thanks for your great work, will the TPS65910 Power Controller provide the ability to soft shutdown the MX1? or at least put it into sleep mode?

Hi,
Checking the kernel code I can confirm there is a shutdown command for the TPS65910, so, in principle it should be able to soft shutdown.
There is no sleep mode that I saw, but it might be there somewhere. However, sleep mode doesn't make much sense with a PC stick imho, as there is no battery to be saved. :geek:

that is fantastic, does this mean app like rebooter will be able to shutdown the device with rooted firmware?

can someone with MX1 test and report back?

Here is a new with wifi and BT activated. It's a bit smaller than the first one tho.
I hope it's ok.

Rebooter from davidjr621 works, but i'm not sure if it shutdown correctly because it takes like 1sec and the screen goes black.
I believe there are several ways to make a shutdown, and one more correct that unmounts and such before.

Does the mx1 remain off after shutdown? Or automatically start up again after few seconds, similar to the ug802.

I just tried the rebooter app and when I shut it down it automaticly starts again.
This is the only thing I dont like about the machine. I want to be able to turn it off without unplugging it.

But you'll have to unplug it and plug it back in to turn it back on so whats the big deal?

Thanks a lot. That's exactly what I needed. :)
As you can see, it uses a very recent WiFi+Bluetooth Combo SoC from Mediatek, the MT5931.

It seems like i will need to read some kernel books to jump into development, I am planning to buy MX1, would love to run ubuntu on it.

Seems that rockchip renamed the component as several sites are calling it something else.

So I took a look at the ships specs and it does endeed do 150.... So why is RK killing this feature? And I wonder if we can get it turned on.....
