RK3066 linux flash tools anyone?

Postby Omegamoon » Sat Oct 27, 2012 6:01 pm

I'm just getting started with my MK808, but I'm already frustrated by the fact that I need to use Windows tools to flash the device. Are there any linux tools out there to flash the RK3066? I hope I just missed it. Google isn't always my friend you know ;)

A big round of applause to yobikap for donating a MK808 and tonikasch for donating a MK808B!

isn't it possible to use "dd"?

I too could not find any flash tools for linux. You could install VirtualBox and then install windows on it. And mount the device via USB into windows.

Yes it works ok to use VirtualBox, use it myself for flashing
But i hopes of finding a way to avoid windows and run native linux for flashing

Yes, there are tools for Linux here: http://www.arctablet.com/wiki/index.php ... sing_Linux

You may have to change a couple of things to ID the RK3066 correctly, but that should be easy enough.

It's a great irony. I keep a copy of Windows... solely to flash Android roms, which are of course Linux based.

This may be a bit late for this thread, and anybody can Google this like I did, but for completeness, I would like to mention that there is this:

https://github.com/linuxerwang/rkflashkit

GUI Flash tool for (allegedly RK3066 and RK3188)

I haven't tried flashing anything with it, but the .deb does install on Xubuntu 12.04LTS. I get a warning about the package not following guide lines, but I hit install anyway.

I have a RK3066 HDMI stick that I can use to at least see if it recognizes the device.

I was investigating this because I want to buy a RK3188 Tablet, and I do not have any Windows machines.

It looks like there is recent development activity.

Does anybody know if this is equivalent to RKBatchTool.exe 1.7?
