This is what I've bought http://www.tp-link.com/en/products/deta ... =TL-WN723N
The device's ID is 0BDA:8176 REV_0200

The problem with rtl8192cu.ko driver was that in autoconf.g the line for CONFIG_IOCTL_CFG80211 is remarked. Therefore ioctl is not build with the driver. So I removed the remark and rebuild the driver. It is now working for my device according to the instructions rainlake has provided. That is:

1) copy rtl8192cu.ko to /system/lib/modules after you have mounted with rw (I usually run ESexplorer with root options)
2) rename /system/lib/modules/rkwifi.ko -> /system/lib/modules/rkwifi.ko.old in case you need that later
3) rename /system/lib/modules/rtl8192cu.ko -> /system/lib/modules/rkwifi.ko
4) fix permitions, I do that from terminal, but I think you can do that from ESExplorer as well
chmod go+r /system/lib/modules/rtl8192cu.ko
chown root:root /system/lib/modules/rtl8192cu.ko

So I include the driver in case someone else with RTL8188CUS chipset wants to check.

Bought TPLINK 723N, followed these instructions, and it works great ! Thank you very much !

I managed to get my usb wifi up and running (using belkin n300 - rtl8192cu) and like others in this thread, android is reporting 300Mbps. I also managed to get my router to match the 300Mbps rate (After about a week of changes) but i still am not able to get more then 3MB/s read from cifs .. I tested using a powered usb hub and same results.

Anyone getting good speeds? And if so, what adapter are you using?

hey,
im having trouble getting my TPLINK 723N installed.
i have not the original mk808b, but a clone (MK808B Sunvel Clone).
the "MK808 "all models" Finless 1.7" works perfectly with it and the onboard wlan works.

with a.alekizoglou's description i had to change a file named rtl8192cu.ko into rkwifi.ko.

BUT my mk808b clone isnt using the rkwifi.ko, because he has a other wlan chip.
figured out with dmesg that it useses the wlan.ko when the build in wlan is working.
so i unnamed rtl8192cu.ko into wlan.ko .

after that i did:
chmod 666 /system/lib/modules/wlan.ko (because "go+r" gave me a "bad mode")
chown root:root /system/lib/modules/wlan.ko

that should be it, shouldnt be?

TPLINK 723N plugged in and is noticed as new product: "802.1n WLAN adapter"

but when i try to swith wlan on, it just switches off again.

please help!

is there any way to get a netgear WNDA3100 dual band usb adapter with AR9001U-2NX chipset to work on the mk808b? i'd like a dual-band usb adapter since i have a nice dual-band router with tons of throughput on the 5ghz band. streaming HD movies and such :)

So I am good until step 4. Sorry for the silly questions but how am I fixing permissions on the file "rtl8192cu.ko" when it was renamed in step 3? IS this a typo or am I missing something.

Sorry for that, it's a typo. What I meant is

4) fix permit ions, I do that from terminal, but I think you can do that from ESExplorer as well
chmod go+r /system/lib/modules/rkwifi.ko
chown root:root /system/lib/modules/rkwifi.ko

could you please create a new driver for tplink wn723n VERSION 3?

Old thread but this may help others:

I have an MK808 original with chipset RK901 (no BT, not 903)
My wifi adapter is EDIMAX EW-7811UN with chipset RTL8188CUS, similar to RTL8192CUS

This is how I did to get the adapter to work:

I had to overwrite the existing rkwifi.ko module for the adapter to be picked up
Once picked up during boot, it takes couple of seconds to settle and show full speed but it is stable and much more usable than before!

for any other rtl8188 chip user with such chip in your wifi adapter, these are the steps I have followed

Requirements:
- MK808 needs to be rooted
- additional USB port should be available for wifi adapter

Steps to follow:
- No wifi adapter plugged in at the moment, very important otherwise the following is not going to work!
- Switch off wifi from android UI
- With Ex File Explorer as root, switched the folder system as RW (hold click on root explorer to see the option, if not make sure you are on the folder system)
- Back up existing rkwifi.ko to e.g rkwifi.ko.old
- Copy over the module rtl8192cu.ko to /system/lib/modules
- Change permission of rtl8192cu.ko by adding read access to group and other (via terminal: chmod go+r /system/lib/modules/rtl8192cu.ko)
- Change permission of rtl8192cu.ko to give root as owner and group (via terminal: chown root:root /system/lib/modules/rtl8192cu.ko)
- Rename module rtl8192cu.ko to rkwifi.ko
- Switch on wifi via UI and leave for few mins

The wifi adapater will then blink, if not wait few more mins, worst case reboot the device and wait for wifi to be picked up

I hope this helps

P.S Credit goes to the following guys: the module is from http://www.armtvtech.com/armtvtechforum/download/file.php?id=180and this is the original help http://www.armtvtech.com/armtvtechforum/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=231&start=70#p3777

hi guys thanks a lot for your hard job! I would like to ask you just a question. Does the file rtl8192cu.ko work with every wifi adapter? Thank you

The download links in the quoted post above are no longer valid. Does anybody have valid links for Dumonde rom and kernel. I would be interested in updating from Finless 1.7 to (jellybean 4.1) kitkat

Thanks

Does insert well "insmod rt3070sta.ko" can scan and see all wifi in the area:
unfortunatly could not get yet connection with dhcpd.
If you succeed give back procedure ;-)

Following what I followed thanks to "rainlake » instructions:

put "RT2870STA" at the right place.
/etc/Wireless/RT2870STA/RT2870STA.dat

put "rt3070.bin" in right "fw" location
/system/etc/firmware/rt3070.bin

iwconfig
ifconfig wlan0 down
rmmod wlan
insmod /sdcard/drivers/rt3070sta.ko
ifconfig wlan0 up
netcfg
iwlist wlan0 scan
iwconfig wlan0 essid NETWORK_ID key s:WIRELESS_KEY
dhcpcd -d wlan0

Thank you for your file and mini guide, they're awesome. I just have an issue, my network is protected with a wpa passphrase and the command iwconfig can't connect to networks protected with wpa. I googled it without any success, there are procedures for linux but on android there aren't all the tool needed (as iw). Can you guys know some ways to procede? Thank you in advance.
