Lubuntu startup sd card image! 20150204

Tronsmart has released a new Lubuntu for the AW80. This time hardware video decoding is included!

As with the last release of Lubuntu for the Tronsmart Draco AW80, phoenixcard can only burn the sdcard in Product mode. This is fine if you want to replace android, but for everyone that wants to just try it out...

I've modified the image file by unpacking it, replacing the rootfs with a much smaller one, repacking it, burned it in Startup mode, then used dd to write the rootfs to the 7th partition on the sdcard. I was unable to burn it to an 8GB sdcard this time, but it did work on a 16GB sdcard.

Here is the result! A 16GB dd image of the 20150204 Lubuntu release burned in "Startup" mode.
Download from my google driver mirror:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2J_Nq ... sp=sharing

In order to use this you'll have to extract the tar.gz file and use dd or win32diskimager to "burn" the .img.dd to a 16GB sdcard.

Example of dd usage:

Code: Select all

sudo dd if=AW80_Ubuntu_20150204_16gb_sd_startup.img.dd of=/dev/sdb bs=1k

(my sdcard adapter with 16GB sdcard is listed on /dev/sdb, please make sure you are using dd on the correct device!)

This is great, thanks for preparing.

Would you happen to know why this device (or any allwinner a80 boards for that matter) won't work with a DVI monitor using a HDMI-DVI adapter?

Thanks!

I'm not sure, perhaps it's related to some sort off uboot env variable. I don't have a dvi monitor to check!

I do know that this lubuntu image is hardcoded to 1080p. It booted into 1080p even though the Motorola lapdock I use as a second monitor is only 720p.

Hi
I bought a tronsmart AW80 and am having problems. I wanted to run lubuntu adding office, sudoku, solitare and if there is one an offline scrabble game where I can play the computer. Would you be willing to put together an SD card with these feaures plus a graphical interface package manager and a wifi/network manager that works with public wifi. If so I can pay by paypal if we can agree on a price. my email is sandy doleman at hot mail dot com (with no spaces). for the wifi my laptop running knoppix and icewaesel has no problems.
