Boot the Ubuntu 14.10 x64 iso with a 32-bit bootloader!

The Meegopad-T01 features the Intel z3735f atom processor. This is one of the bay trail processors that are 64-bit chips with 32-bit bootloaders.
32-bit Ubuntu does not include uefi support, so we need to use the x64 iso and add bootia32.efi to the livecd.

Steps:
1)Download Ubuntu 14.10 x64 iso and burn to usb drive using Unetbootin or Ubuntu Startup Disk Creator.

2)Download and extract bootia32.efi(or build it...instructions coming soon)
bootia32.efi.zip

3)Copy bootia32.efi to your newly burned Ubuntu 14.10 usb drive in the following directory:

Code: Select all

\EFI\BOOT\

4)Insert usb drive into Meegopad-T01 and tap F7 while booting to select the usb drive.

5)Enjoy seeing Ubuntu run!

Note: At this time the Ubuntu installer will not properly install the 32-bit efi, so more work is required after installing.

Hey, I just got one of these. As I think the Win 8.1 license thing is bogus, I'm following your efforts to get Ubuntu up and running. Just wanted to say thanks for your efforts, I wish I had the know how to help. As I try to get mine working I'll give you any info I come up with. Thanks again.

I booted to Ubuntu and when I opened Gparted, I saw a lot of mmcblk0p* partitions like this

All of them have a red exclamation mark with it.

So can anybody tell me how can I access the file in these partitions. Thanks so much.
