Fix that bricked bios flash!

My Meegopad-t01 got bricked several months ago when I was updating the bios. Since then I've been away from most of my computers, but now I'm back and I've finally fixed it! I'll update this thread with some pictures after I catch up with some work.

Warning Flashing your bios with the CH341a could fry your t01. Anytime you flash a bios you run the risk of making a brick, but this could kill it. The CH341a programmer operates at 3.3v, the Winbond 25Q64DW chip in the t01 operates at 1.8v. Ideally you should use a 1.8v programmer or hookup a logic level converter to go from 3.3v to 1.8vWith that being said, my t01 was basically dead anyway, so for the total cost of $15 and risking the dead t01 was worth it to me.

Items you'll need:
1)CH341a usb programmer. ... 1e8fe4fbe3

2)Test clip adapter for the bios chip. ... 58b7141c4e

3)CH341a software. Found it on the internet. ... ROM-1.html
Windows 8.1 automatically detected and installed drivers.

4)A dump of the bios you want to flash. I flashed the auto power on bios from this thread: ... o-power-on

5)OPTIONAL: it would be wise to add a bi-directional logic level converter in between the ch341a and the soic test clip. Make sure to use a 1.8v voltage source for the reference voltage for the converter to go from 3.3v to 1.8v. This would eliminate the risk of the extra voltage frying your t01.

1)Download and extract the CH341a software.

2)Download and extract the bios dump.

3)Take your Meegopad-t01 apart(pry apart plastic halves, remove 2 screws from the pcb, unplug antenna ) and remove the larger metal shield covering the winbond 25Q64DW chip and processor. There are bent metal tabs that go through the pcb that need to be straightened in order to remove the shield.
4)Next you'll need to unplug the backup battery on the Meegopad-t01.

5)Start up the CH341a software and plug the CH341a programmer into your computer. It should say connected in the lower right corner of the window.

6)Once you have verified that you CH341a is able to connect, unplug it.

7)Attach your test clip adapter to the CH341a following the diagram located on the pcb. On mine I inserted it into the group of holes closer to the usb port, with pin 1 facing the lever.


8)Attach the test clip to the 25Q64DW chip on the Meegopad-t01 pcb. Pin 1 on the clip has a red line on the wire. Pin 1 on the chip is marked by a circle cast into the epoxy.

9)With the CH341a software running plug the CH341a into your computer. Make sure that the Chip type is "25 SPI FLASH", the Manufacturer is "WINBOND", and the Name is "W25Q64BV".

10)Press the "Detect" button. It should detect your bios chip. If it reads unknown then you are not hooked up correctly.

11)Press the "Read" button to download what is currently on the bios chip

12)Press the "Save" button to save this locally on your computer. Use a file name like "t01_bad_flash.bin.bak"

13)Press the "Erase" button to erase the chip. This won't take too long.

14)Press the "Blank" button to check that the chip is now blank. This will take a little while. Watch the progress bar at the lower left corner of the window. Continue when it reaches 100%.

15)Press the "Open" button to select the bios dump you wish to write. In my case the file was named "EMBEDDED_OEM_BIOS_DUMP.bin".

16)Press the "Program" to start writing the new bios to the chip. This will take a little while. Again, watch the progress bar and continue when it reaches 100%.

17)Press the "Verify" button to make sure that what's been written on the chip matches the buffer(the bios dump you wrote to the chip).

18)Unplug the CH341a from your computer's usb port, then unclip the test clip from the Meegopad-t01.

19)Reassemble the Meegopad-t01, don't forget to bend the metal shield clips back into place, reconnect the battery, and plug the antenna connector!

20)Hookup your Meegopad-t01 and enjoy having a working device again!

the bios chip operates from 2.7 to 3.6V, not at 1.8V...

Can you upload the original bios firmware. I bricked mine and the backup i took is on the device itself. That was my greatest mistake.

I managed to unbrick the morefine t01 with the instructions in this page. The bios was meegopad and it only booted to windows. then i flashed again with the original bios backup (which i saved to the desktop of the morefine device). Now the device is unbricked and with its original bios. i can dual boot between win8 and android as before

Hello There,
I just come across your post about re-flashing bios on your MeeGoPad. I have Azulle Tech's Quantum Access - taking it a part looks like it is the same motherboard and 25Q64 bios chip. I checked into getting the equipment you have listed and to get all of it would take several weeks. I was trying to change OEM bios to dual boot that is posted on MeeGoPad's site.
I guess instead of flashing original first I went with flashing dual boot which was the whole reason why ....wanted to have dual boot functionality (Quantum Access do not have it in their software support). Would you be willing to help me with programming original quantum access bios re-flash, and trying to re-flash T01 original to see if that would work? I'm in CA and i could send it to you via mail or if close enough deliver (not sure where you are located) I would greatly appreciate if you can help.

Unfortunately, I bricked my new MeeGoPad T07 4GB by using wrong BIOS settings, and removing the battery doesn't help.

To fix it I bought the following items on eBay:

1. CH341A 24/25 Series EEPROM Flash BIOS USB Programmer + SOIC8 Clip On-Board

2. Solderless Prototype PCB Breadboard with Jumper Leads Wires

3. 4-Channel Logic Level Converter

My MeeGoPad T07 4GB has GD25LQ64CVIG flash from GigaDevice (I will unplug the backup battery).


Can you tell me how to connect the Logic Level Shifter?

sorry to reactivate this thread...but did you figured out how to unbrick your T07 ? I've just bricked mine with a x5-z8350 cpu.
