How to root the UG802

Postby deadhp1 » Thu Sep 20, 2012 5:35 pm

I rooted my device using the info from here:
http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/34442-r ... w-to-root/
Superoneclick did complain and say my device was already rooted, but I had previously checked with root checker and it had said it wasn’t.

"I can confirm that this method works for rooting the device.
The instructions are VERY simple.

1) Download Moborobo

http://www5.zippyshare.com/v/59196662/file.html

2) Download this modified SuperOneClick - Short Fuse

http://www10.zippyshare.com/v/77368393/file.html

3) Install Moborobo and open it

4) Make sure USB Debugging is enabled on your tablet (Settings --> Developer Options)

5) Enter the Settings menu on the UG802 and choose connect to pc

6) Wait for Moborobo to see the device and install drivers. It will detect the device as rk30sdk.

7) Extract the contents of SuperOneClick

8) Run SuperOneClick.exe

9) Click on Root

10) Click on Yes (it says device is already rooted do you wish to continue)

That's it... you are all done and ROOTED!"

That method should work for android 4.1 and maybe ICS. I'm not gonna try it though.
I like to be able to read what buttons on an app say.(Just a personal preference.)

I thought I would try to root my UG802. After following the the steps I finally got Windows 7 to show a installing driver window. Hint to others: Connect to PC is in the settings menu under Apps>Settings>USB.

After several seconds Windows said, Driver not found. Moborobo was running per the instructions but for some reason it failed. Now when I try again Windows does not give the installing drivers popup window and Moborobo just sits in an endless "Installing driver . . . " mode. Any idea what to do?

Is there a link to the USB driver so I can install it manually?

Userx, thank you for the link. I am traveling now so it may be a couple of weeks before I can try again. I will post my results when possible.

Thanks for your reply gamesfrager.
I know that I had to extract the rar. :)
The problem is that it is not recognized as rar. I don't think it is a rar file but more a html file. Let open it with a hex tool you will see html code.
userx, are you sure you posted the right file?

I confirm the file is corrupted as .rar file. The file is a dropbox login form!!! I simply renamed the extension to .html like Larbij said and you can see it right away.

I finally got around to making another attempt at rooting my UG802. This time I was successful. Yeah! Looks like the next step is to flash a some new firmware to fix Play Store and the audio sync.

Thanks guys,

Finally did it. The first option didn't work for me,
The Chinese software did the trick.
Maybe cause i have a more recent version of Android?

Anyway, main reason for me was the shutdown/reboot
Option to prevent data corruption.
Tried some tools to shutdown, screen goes blank and seems to
Shutdown, only the blue led stays on. After a power re-connect
the System does a card check, as if the power was suddenly lost.

So, is it possible to really shutdown the ug802, or is it only a screen off
function?

Hi beaviz, how are you?

Would I like to know how you can able to get "adb" in UG802? Once that USB ports are host, aren't they?

Thanks in advance

i used the micro usb port, and installed the adb drivers manually. its a bit tricky with the chinese software, but some words were english, like "root". didnt take much guessing...

hope you succeed!

I recently got the new UG802 shipped with 4.1.1.

I tried rooting with the Moborobo + superoneclick with no luck.
Next went for the oriental app Shuame, same result.

The one that worked was TPSarky Von Droid method.
There you have an explanation:

It was a leap of faith, successfull landing :P
