Pre-Alpha 0.2 is out, can now boot from any mass storage device recognized at boot time (e.g. USB key, USB card reader, internal microSD card slot, etc).

Hi all,

For guys who wants to boot always on ubuntu i have a (quick an dirty) solution. It check if your sdcard is plug in the slot at android boot. if it is, it's reboot recovery, else it stay in android OS.

write a script (i call it ubuntu_boot.sh) :

Code: Select all

if [ -a "/dev/block/vold/179:1" ]
  then
        reboot recovery
fi

With smanager android app, choose this script to run at boot and with su permission.

If it don't work, please check your device id in an android terminal with the "mount" command (you should have plug your sdcard in the slot before) and look at the line whith "external_sd". if the device id is not "/dev/block/vold/179:1", so replace the value with your in the script.

Is there any way to flash the root file system of Ubuntu to the system partition of the nand flash?

I would like to flash the Linux kernel to the boot partition (which I already know how to do) such that it will automatically boot into Ubuntu from internal memory.

Thanks,
Joshua

That option will be available in a later release, at this pre-Alpha stage we are just testing the kernel and the root filesystem so it's better to have them on removable storage i.e. a microSD card or a USB key.

Hi agiler,
In fact the pre-Alpha 0.2 kernel should work on the iMito MX1, I just haven't had the time to test it on my UG007 (which is identical to the iMito MX1 internally).
I'll be releasing pre-Alpha 0.3 later today or tomorrow after testing it on the UG007, you may want to wait for that release.

It should be as simple as:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install sabnzbd transmission
