rkflashtool problems on mk809

Postby penguin42 » Sat Jan 12, 2013 11:08 pm

Hi,
I seem to have bricked my mk809 and am looking for some pointers with rkflashtool.

I got the rk3066 modded version with the different id in, and the 'b' command to reboot seems to work, but all of
my attempts to read from the device return a repeating pattern of counting bytes:

520000000 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 03 00 00 0000
3520000020 04 00 00 00 05 00 00 00 06 00 00 00 07 00 00 00
3520000040 08 00 00 00 09 00 00 00 0a 00 00 00 0b 00 00 00
3520000060 0c 00 00 00 0d 00 00 00 0e 00 00 00 0f 00 00 00
3520000100 10 00 00 00 11 00 00 00 12 00 00 00 13 00 00 00
3520000120 14 00 00 00 15 00 00 00 16 00 00 00 17 00 00 00
3520000140 18 00 00 00 19 00 00 00 1a 00 00 00 1b 00 00 00
3520000160 1c 00 00 00 1d 00 00 00 1e 00 00 00 1f 00 00 00
3520000200 20 00 00 00 21 00 00 00 22 00 00 00 23 00 00 00
3520000220 24 00 00 00 25 00 00 00 26 00 00 00 27 00 00 00
3520000240 28 00 00 00 29 00 00 00 2a 00 00 00 2b 00 00 00
3520000260 2c 00 00 00 2d 00 00 00 2e 00 00 00 2f 00 00 00
3520000300 30 00 00 00 31 00 00 00 32 00 00 00 33 00 00 00

it spills over to 2 bytes and resets - that's from ./rkflashtool r 0 1000000| od -tx1

The device is showing up as 2207:300a.

How I bricked it:
I had AndrewDB's 0.3 working fine in the recovery partition, but I tried building my own kernel, booted into android, and then in android dd'd it into the recovery partition (using the named link in mtd);
then I rebooted again into android, and then used adb reboot recovery - and well that's the last I ever heard from it.

Suggestions?

A follow up on this; if I write and then read back it looks fine, but if I reboot then it is junk again.

I extracted the files from the image from http://www.mk809.com/cs102/en/Download.html
unrar'd it to get rk3066_T002_Launcher2_public_20121119.img

ran it through ../../rk-tools/img_unpack:
and got img_inpack.on.20121119.img-isrkaf

then ran that through:
../../rk-tools/afptool -unpack img_inpack.on.20121119.img-isrkaf

and have a boot.img,kernel.img,misc.img,recovery.img, and system.img and a few other bits ( a prameter file, a package-file, a RK30xxLoader .bin and an update-script).

and wrote them back with:
2024 ./rkflashtool w 0x2000 96 < ../../../recovery/raropen/output-of-afptool/Image/misc.img
2025 ./rkflashtool w 0x00008000 17504 < ../../../recovery/raropen/output-of-afptool/Image/boot.img
2026 ./rkflashtool w 0x4000 13665 < ../../../recovery/raropen/output-of-afptool/Image/kernel.img
2027 ./rkflashtool w 0x00010000 20928 < ../../../recovery/raropen/output-of-afptool/Image/recovery.img
2028 ./rkflashtool w 0x21a000 669730 < ../../../recovery/raropen/output-of-afptool/Image/system.img
2029 ./rkflashtool b

but nothing :-(

suggestions welcome.

please use RKAndroidTool.exe and reflash proper bootloader with it.

please do not use dd/cat/etc to modify MTD partitions. in general, special tools such as flash_image are required to modify MTD. and Rockchip's MTD is not normal... special "special tools" for RK are required :(

Yeh, I'm not too sure where I'm going to find someone with a windows box to do that reflash.
Has anyone managed to hack wine to let it run or figure out that level of protocol yet?

hi!

Any update on this?
I can't flash my MK808 with windows tools (reset button won't work: have to put it on MASK MODE by shorting 8-9 NAND pins) - always get IDB error - so I was willing to flash it through RKFLASHtool.

Thank you!
