I created an image. I hope this steps will make someone's life a little easier, please confirm that the image is working. and also please correct me if I am wrong.

1 - download the compressed file
xubuntu_12_04_image.tar.gz (1.07 GB)
https://mega.co.nz/#!oNckCQpK!OLADESBSc ... g7kQSD-M7Q

2 - go to your Downloads folder
cd Downloads

3 - decompress file
sudo tar xvf xubuntu_12_04_image.tar.gz

4 - dd - convert and copy the iso file to your SD card
sudo dd if=xubuntu_12_04_image.iso of=/dev/<drive>

Notes: This image should work on 4GB and 8GB cards.

This site is mega fun. I am playing with a GK802.

I tried to download @JAS rootfs but my anti-virus says it's a dirty site.

I tried @MARMARTI's xubuntu 12.04 but the MEGA web site requires me to install chrome for access (not gunna happen.... ever).

Major frustration.

deb package has to be for 'armel' not x86 (i386 or amd64). Worst case is that you would need to get the source package and compile.

i installed the iso image succesfully, but the resolution is 1280x720 and i would like it to be 1080p.
i used to own a mk802, and the method there to change this was by editing or replacing evb.bin.
This file does not seem to be included in your image, and thus im at a loss..
How can i change the resolution?

I have a http://jas-hacks.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/imx6-gk802-uboot-multi-boot.html where you can set the resolutions.
