And everything seams to work smooth, it is a real 1080p ( i tested on Samsung Smart D8000 46inch) , the wifi is almost stable , the ethernet working very smooth , i was watching online for few hours hd movies , and the heat is just a little more than the original firmware.
My only dissapointment is that that i can not use Sopcast on this 4.1.1 JB , so i hope someone will release a kernel for ICS 4.0.4 or even better , a mk808 - ICS-1080p - firmware - release very soon.

i could build a ics firmware but not without ics karnel.
Everything is possible if we work together!

it will be nice , i realy prefer ICS instead of JB , Jelly Bean is still a long way to be good , and of course on ICS i can use flash player and Sopcast for watching tv live ...this was the real reason i bought this mk808 , to use it as a tv box for my Samsung 46inch Smart tv ...
I was looking for a fineless rom for ICS in order to try the new kernel but nothing ...
Please let me know if you will build an ICS Rom with the new kernel , i would like to test it .. :D :D :D :D

So, I think that Wifi is worse than with the stock kernel.

I get good ping times, pinging 8.8.8.8 yields 20-30 ms. But, browsing website takes looong... Any idea how to tweak the settings?

Also: I connected the device via DVI to a Dell P2011H. It has 1600x900 native and the MK an the Dell decided to use 780p. This happens:
- The desktop is rendered in 1080p
- Scales down to 780p for transmission
- The monitor scales up to 1600x900 again.

I would really like to look at the kernel driver to see if I can tweak a bit, but for me the learning curve is really high for kernel dev to MK. I did a bit of kernel dev with the Raspberry Pi (fixing some bugs in the SD driver), and it was very easy to compile and deploy a kernel...

I made my own kernel, here it is: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/44128030/kizs_kernel_mukodo_gyorsabb_mmc.img

Based on 1080p kernel, but I made some trick in source code and rebuild all with my favorite settings.
I think (I hope) it's little bit smoother, little bit faster and more stable then "stock" 1080p ROM. No screen lagging, no streaking, no delaying for me.
It has native central european code pages, ntfs, cdrom, dvd support.
Limited to 1.4GHz.
Works with new firmware and Finless 1.5A too.

new firmware Antutu :

Finless 1.5A Antutu:

For those who find the fonts and the icons too small, just change the lcd_density at build.prop from 160 to 220. Everything will be as big as before! :D

Thanks, this what is was looking for!
Some further instructions for those who are intrested:
- Open system/build.prop using root explorer or symilar file explorer.
- Make sure the R/W rights are enabled.
- find the value ......lcd_density (its somewhere in the bottom) to 220.
- Reboot the device
I've changed this succesfully yesterday.

However for some strange reason the wifi-bug accured again yesterday (speeds dropping tot 5 - 15 mbps) with the firmware posted by deadhp1 1080p test firmware... :(
Anyone noticed this as well?

Yes Shifty-PK, it's the same here with the geekbuying-1080p-firmware.

I modded my antennas and have a near perfect wifi connection. But once in a while the data rate drops so low that I get a lot of timeouts. After some minutes its alright again and a few minutes later its back to near NIL data - the connection icon stays perfect all the time!

For me this wifi-Issue (instability) is the greatest problem at the moment with the MK808.

Nice!! smooth cpu scaling works perfectly, no lag on start up every thing seems to work as before.
Well done amazing job others should try this kernel.

Just installed everything from scratch.

Trying the playstore now and I find something strange. Trying to install DS file so I can browse my Synology nas and it doesn't find that file.

edit : went to my previous installed files and it says 'not compatible with this device' . Can someone upload a build.prop ?

hi KIZS.

I have just tested your kernel with finless 1.5a, and compared to Deadhp1's kernel here are my observations. (it seems to be quite a good improvement).

1. Now I can play now 1080p h264 files (such as 3D SBS Mkv's et) smoothly using MXPlayer or Mobo player. With Deadhp1's kernel, these 1080p videos would stutter in Mxplayer (I have tried current and older mx 1.6version) & all other video players other than the rockchip RVideoplayer (which is pretty crappy, and you can't turn subtitles off if you have a .srt in the video folder). This is a HUGE improvement for me, as I am trying to get a decent XBMC setup, (and XBMC will be a long way off if ever for Rockchip HW acceleration, but using MX player @ 1080p is a pretty nice work around.

For anyone interested, I now have a pretty awesome setup with XBMC using MXPlayer, and fully working at true 1080p :)

2. In general, the desktop seems much snappier than the deadhp1 kernel. Its still not project butter, but its clearly a lot snappier than Deadhp's kernel. Mouse pointer is much faster as well.

3. I have only tested your new kernel it on finless 1.5a (not the beta2 / beta4 kernel from Deadhp), but reading Point 1 above, I tested deadhp's kernel on both finless 1.5a and the bundled beta2, and both have the video acceleration and slow desktop problems.

4. Compared to other similar hardware (I have an amlogic 8726 M6 based tablet), apps seem slow to load when clicked on.. , maybe its just very slow SD in these things?

5. When I run antutu, I still get screen artifacts, and some weird colours (the army soldiers guys turn red for example), but at least it still works. My score was 8544 on finless 1.5a.

All in all, this is a pretty massive improvement on originally posted 1080p kernel.

What still is very ordinary is web browsing. Chrome, Firefox, all seem incredibly slow and clunky to use.. not quite sure if this is just how it will always be with this hardware.. maybe I am to used to browsing on a i7 desktop computer..
------------------------------------------------------

Does anyone know how to hide the statusbar in mxplayer?

Thanks!! Great work.

Hello llewelld,

Thanks for your review! I'll try this one too. I'm quite interested in your xbmc running with mxplayer. Did you compile it yourself? If so xould you share this apk or change you made to get it to work that way?

Thanks!

Just wondering how much time it would need for someone to upload the build.prop for me?

Use RKAndroidTool (eg. from Finless zip), select only "kernel", path points to new kernel image and click "run" button.
Do not erease because it will erease ALL rom, just "run" (or "flash rom").

And here two new kernel:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/44128030/kizs_kernel_1.5GHz_1080.img

These are same, only difference is the resolution (1280x720 vs. 1920x1080).

1280x720 Antutu:

1920x1080p Antutu:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/44128030/kizs_kernel_1.5GHz_1080.png

I tested 1080 verison for 3 hours and looks stable.

I will post up links and instructions to my XBMC / MXPlayer setup shortly as I am just about to step out.

Can anybody tell me is it possible to modify the stock rom so that mxplayer (or other video player) is full screen.

At present I am using the hidebar app, but it is a little clunky, it hides the status bar okay, but it has a pretty major glitch when you try and re-enable the status bar, the whole system freezes up for about 10 seconds like its crashed, (longer if the video is still playing)..

Thanks.

Thanks!
