Hi!

I´m new here and did already tried some firmwares.
After updating to mk808_1416mhz_1080p the Rockchip-Batchtool 1.5 is not connecting.

What is going wrong? Is it the new kernel?

Pleas help me!

Thx, Gunter

for all:

i tested the mk808, mk802 III, UG802 and MInix Neo G4. all with rk3066 cpu

The only good device for for assembling hardware and firmware is the Minix Neo G4

UG802 and MK802 III have a wifi module buggy and not solvable in my opinion

the mk808 with a good firmware is acceptable.

the minix neo g4 is well like a galaxy s 2. very good device

look all forums on internet and see how many complain about UG802 and MK802 III. ATTENTION

I haven't had that issue at all.
I do ALOT of firmware flashing.
I've tested by 3 methods to get rockchip batch tools to see the mk808 and they all work.

(first plug into otg usb port)
Method 1)
Install terminal emulator and type:

Code: Select all

su
reboot bootloader

Method 2)
a)Go into Settings---Developer options---make sure usb debugging is disabled
b)Settings--->Storage--->Click the 3 vertical dot icon in the upper right corner-->Click USB computer connection--->Check the box for mass storage
c)Settings--->USB--->Connect to PC
d)In rockchip tools you should see a pink icon, now you can click the switch button to make the icon go green for flashing.

Method 3)
Using a paperclip or pin press the hidden reset button while plugging in the mk808.

Minix was supposed to send me a sample of the Neo G4. It hasn't turned up, and I've not heard back from them.
I'm sure the Neo G4 is a nice device, I'd love to have one to work on.
The UG802 1080p rom I posted might work on the Neo G4. I just can't test it, and wouldn't until a firmware update is released.

The Neo G4 uses the SAME wifi module as the UG802 and MK802 III.(max speed 150mbps)
MK808 uses rk901(max speed 65mbps)

Let's keep this thread for those who have the MK808.

Hi!
For those who find the fonts and the icons too small, just change the lcd_density at build.prop from 160 to 220. Everything will be as big as before! :D

Hi, this firmware is built from the "leaked" kernel sources, right?

So, we don't know if there is something still "hidden" from us in the stock kernel?

Thanks deadhp1 for your great work. ;-)
Does it contain Root and SuperUser?

Today, I got my SS808. The STOCK firmware lets me switch to 1080p... and my TV also shows that it is 1080p.

The firmware is rooted and contains SuperSU.

Can you install this app and tell us the output?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... screeninfo
Also what's the build # and kernel info that came on your device?

screeninfo shows w=1280px to h=672px, ending above the navbar. So, it's just scaled up...

model: MK808
andorid: 4.1.1
kernel 3.08+ SMP PREEMPT Fri Oct 26 08:59:55 CST 2012
build mk808_300j1_27-10-2012

Btw. I just read an announcment, that there is a new firmware for MK808 with stock 1080p support: http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.php/2012/11/28/mk808-1080p-firmware-release/.

Hm, I just flashed the firmware from the blog, but it's still showing Oct 26 version, instead of Nov 25, as written at the blog.

I did copy the update.img to the SD-card and inserted. The device asked me to confirm updating and it did something. But, nothing has changed?

Hi Deadhp1,

Geekbuying has posted a link to a 1080p rom.. is this just the same ROM with your kernel?

I'll be getting my MK808 in a few days so I'll be itchin' to learn all this. I've never owned anything android so it's all new to me.

Does this firmware replace the finless 1.5 or is this an update and the finless is sort of just an interface update?

Hi!
Will the new 1080-firmware work well on a 720 TV?

does this mean they posted a firmware where they replaced the kernel with YOUR build? Or am I mixing quotes up?

And: hence the firmware is build with "leaked" kernel source, hence might be incomplete...

I would like to tell you guys that i test it yesterday almost for 8 hours the new firmware released on
http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.php/20 ... e-release/
And everything seams to work smooth, it is a real 1080p ( i tested on Samsung Smart D8000 46inch) , the wifi is almost stable , the ethernet working very smooth , i was watching online for few hours hd movies , and the heat is just a little more than the original firmware.
My only dissapointment is that that i can not use Sopcast on this 4.1.1 JB , so i hope someone will release a kernel for ICS 4.0.4 or even better , a mk808 - ICS-1080p - firmware - release very soon.

Sounds great, did you noticed any interface lag? For example the mouse movement not going as smooth as it should?

I am also having the FW since this morning on the device. It's true 1080p as shown by screeninfo.

At first, the interface was lagging a bit, but with scaling to 1416 MHz it looks really good!

However, I can't get dynamic frequency scaling to work correctly...

Antutu scores: with perf@1416 @1920x1032 (1080p)
total 7571
CPU 3179
GPU 2119
RAM 1519
I/O 754

BTW. the kernel was built by "xbmc@ubuntu"...

I noticed a little bug with the mouse movement , and also i tested the kernel_mk808_test6_1416mhz.img on the mk808_rooted_ICS_update and it was working on a full 1080p , few bugs , and when i play the mkv movies or online hd movies there is a big delay between the video and sound. ... i will test later tonight finless1.5a rom with the new 1080p kernel and i will post a review...
