Stock Firmware

Postby deadhp1 » Fri Sep 28, 2012 3:10 pm

11/02 update!
Geekbuying has provided us with another beta update. This is only a small fix to the last beta.
It fixes the system corrupt bug that comes when using a reboot app.
It seems that the CPU governors are also fixed to be able to set up to ~1400MHz in all of them using SetCPU.
It comes rooted, but SuperSU is not installed. I have a properly rooted version with SuperSU and RootExplorer in the Rooted Roms thread.
Stock Beta 2 Download "beta_JB_04.zip" from ultramegabit.com:

10/26/2012 update!
Courtesy of geekbuying.com we've got a NEW beta JB firmware for the MK808.

First off a BIG thank you to Geekbuying. They are the only seller I know that has gone out of their way to make sure that we get updates and bug fixes. Without them we would not have this. They made a big fuss and stayed extremely late at the factory to get this out to us.

This firmware looks pretty good so far.
The screen resolution looks good.(1280x672 and no longer stretched)
The settings has the option to turn off touch sounds, audio devices, and ethernet.
Netflix works properly and autohides.
It scored a 7130 in antutu.

It is an update to the stock JB Firmware that shipped on the MK808

The instructions on the blog above are good, but they leave out one point. You must connect your usb cable to the OTG port, not the power port.
If you don't connect to the OTG port the MK808 will not be recognized.

This is the unmodified ICS firmware.

It does have a few problems I've noticed.

Problems:
-Still can't access my wifi-n router.
-Play Store crippled with China Mobile so no paid apps are available.
-Audio/Video out of sync!
-not rooted

Working:
-Screen Resolution!!! Although I set to 1280x720 antutu reports 1280x672 it's MUCH better than 1024x720.
-No rotation problem!
-Antutu score of......7554!
-Developer Options
-Can turn off touch sounds
-Can skip forward in videos without much wait

I'll have an rooted and play store fixed version up a little bit later.
For now the Play Store fix posted in the ug802 section does work. I wouldn't use the ug802 files, just the method.
The root method posted in the ug802 section works very well on this release.

Unmodified Original JB Firmware.

This is the unmodified original JB firmware. It's what shipped on the MK808.
Download "mk808_JB_update_orig.rar" from ultramegabit.com:
http://ultramegabit.com/file/details/R7s_HNgGd1s

edit: tested and it works.

I installed the latest Jelleybean firmware posted by geekbuying and it jacked up my WiFi. Before it would connect no problem but after the update it it would say out of range after trying to obtain an IP address. I received my Ethernet to USB dongle this morning and plugged it into the updated MK808 and all I got were two arrows pointing east and west on the bottom right hand screen with no option to configure the Ethernet. I didn't get a chance to try the dongle with the shipping Jelly Bean firmware.

I then tried the stock ICS firmware and my WiFi is now working again and there is even an option to configure Ethernet right under the WiFi settings. However when I plugged in my USB Ethernet adapter no configuration was necessary, it pulled down an IP immediately and was good to go. Really looking forward to the modified ICS firmware.

Hi, so what's the status of the 4.1.1 firmware? I just bought this device, it came with 4.0.4 even though it was advertised as 4.1.1.

From various forums I get the impression that their 4.1.1 firmware is broken.

Also, my ICS firmware contains an appstore app which does not include movies or paid apps. I have access on all my other android devices.

Regards

If you want to try out the 4.1 firmware head on over to:
viewtopic.php?f=13&t=53
It has the rooted 4.1 firmware update.
The same thread also contains the rooted and Play Store fixed ICS firmware.
To flash follow the instructions
viewtopic.php?f=13&t=45
(Do not use the sd card method if you are switching from ICS to JB or from JB to ICS)

If you're just looking to fix the Play Store on your ICS firmware without flashing then head on over to:
Play Store fix(method works for the ICS MK808, but make sure not to use the framework.jar from the ug802)
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4
(You'll still need to be rooted)
root
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=28

Playstore problem - can't purchase apps work around

Postby realfandroid » Mon Oct 08, 2012 11:18 pm

I have run into the problem with not being able to buy apps from the Google Play Store.

I have worked around the problem by accessing the Google play store via a web browser and installing the software remotely via the Google play store web site.
As long as you have synchronized the device with your Google account it shows up on the list of devices you can choose to install the software on.

it works but it's a pain. Should not be necessary.

Does this mean it also works for 1080p?
don't you have any 1080p to try this on?

The 1080p tv I had that works with the mk808 broke recently.(I need to replace the backlight inverter)
My other 1080p tv doesn't work with the mk808 so I can't test. (It works with the ug802)

I've heard reports that it doesn't switch to actual 1080p mode, it stays at 1280x672.

There is a difference in the output mode and UI.

My TV automatically recognize it as 1920x1080p@60hz but the UI does not scale to the HD mode.

Just hope that people will notice it and try it.

I wonder if this one is beta, when will the final version be ready :geek:

There is a way to ask them to add an uboot option (rootdelay=3) ?
It will let us to enter in uboot env and change some parameters...
