MK808B Actual Colour Depth

Postby akoutsou » Fri Jan 11, 2013 8:09 am

Hello everyone,

I am new to the forum as just a few days ago I have purchased an MK808B.
One of my initial questions is related to the actual colour depth of the HDMI signal
produced by this device. I have noticed some strong gradient changes in some
photos of mine so I was wondering if the device is actually giving a 24 bit colour
depth or less .

Any hints on this and how is it possible to solve this problem?

I noticed the same thing, I hope, this problem is solved with a next fw that gives us real 1920x1080 resolution, like that fw for MK808. Letters could also be a bit more sharp.

I have the same on my initial mx1, or at least similar.
Find it hard to read smaller fonts and especially emails in the gmail app with the white background.
Do you have the same?

Apart from the resolution, the fact that it is not able to provide 24bit depth colour is more than anoying. Dithering
is very obvious even with movies.

use a display test tool please
and you'll know the real color depth

system sofware tends to do 16bit dither.

I have tried the app called display tester and it says it is a 32 bit output. I didn't managed to find though a single image viewer that actually outputs 24bit depth colour and dithering and gradient levels are always visible.

Images using the stock gallery or any other viewer as 16bit dithered (I guess)

to have Full-HD i prefer you "Finless 1.5 Custom ROM". it gives you opportunity to choose between 720p or 1080p boot and more other nice features that are better than Stock ROM .
